The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has filed 11 charges bordering on fraud against the Azeez Fashola, aka Naira Marley, for alleged credit card fraud.

Before we go into Naira Marley's charges I thought I should point out just one little thing. His act of felony is supposed to get him seven years imprisonment but he can evade all of that if he pays a fine of N5 Million!!

Is this a joke?

Going further, the musician effectively risks seven years in jail as Section 33 (2) which he was accused of breaching, reads:

“Any person who uses: a counterfeit access device; an unauthorised access device; an access device issued to another person; resulting in a loss or gain commits an offence and shall be liable on conviction to imprisonment for a term of not more than seven years or a fine of not more than N5,000,000.00 and forfeiture of the advantage or value derived from his act".

The charges with suit number FHC/L/178C/19 were filed before a Lagos State High Court.

According to the EFCC, some of the credit cards bore the names- Nicole Louise Malyon, and Timea Fedorne Tatar.

The alleged crimes were in contravention of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act and the Cyber Crimes Act.

The charges read in part, “That you, Azeez Adeshina Fashola, aka Naira Marley, and Raze (still at large), on or about the 11th day of December 2018, within the jurisdiction of this honorable court, conspired amongst yourselves to use Access card 42658840359191132 issued to persons other than you in a bid to obtain gain and you thereby committed an offense contrary to Section 27(1)(b) of the Cyber Crimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc) Act 2015 and punishable under Section 33(2) of the Same Act.

“That you, Azeez Adeshina Fashola, aka Naira Marley, and Raze (still at large), on or about the 10th day of May 2019, within the jurisdiction of this honorable court, with intent to defraud possessed, counterfeit card 4921819410257431 issued to Timea Fedorne Tatar and you thereby committed an offense contrary to and punishable under Section 33(9) of Cyber Crimes (Prohibition, Prevention etc) Act 2015.”

The artist has been enmeshed in controversy in the last one month following his decision to openly support online fraud commonly called ‘Yahoo Yahoo' in his hit song; 'Am I A Yahoo Boy'.

He was arrested last Friday along with four others, including his bosom friend, Zlatan Ibile.

According to reports from Variety, Robert Pattinson is the frontrunner for the role of the caped crusader in Matt Reeves’ forthcoming superhero film, The Batman, which hits theaters June 25, 2021.

While sources say it’s not yet a done deal, Pattinson is the top choice and it’s expected to close shortly. Warner Bros. had no comment on the information.

Pre-production on the Warner Bros.-DC Comics pic is expected to start this summer.

Reeves, the filmmaker behind the last two “Planet of the Apes” sequels, assumed “Batman” directing duties from Ben Affleck in January 2017 and has been developing the elusive project ever since. Affleck and Warner Bros. began discussing the actor-director leaving the Caped Crusader behind following “Justice League,” allowing Reeves to pick his own Bruce Wayne.

Reeves will produce “The Batman” with his “Planet of the Apes” collaborator Dylan Clark.

Though grumble from fans over reports that Robert Pattinson has been cast as the new Batman is inevitable, we have no doubt that 'The Twilight' star will most likely prove them wrong.

Letters were written to the Los Angeles Times when Michael Keaton was announced as Tim Burton’s Batman, insisting the man behind Beetlejuice could never bring the required gravitas. They had the same complaints about Heath Ledger when Christopher Nolan picked him to be The Dark Knight’s Joker. 7,000 fans signed a petition asking Warner Bros to reverse their decision to cast Ben Affleck as the Caped Crusader back in 2013, when he was announced as the DC Extended Universe (DCEU)’s version of the character, fronting the series of interconnected films that followed 2013’s Man of Steel. All three of those actors went on to prove their critics wrong. Pattinson will undoubtedly do the same.

Pattinson, however, will play Batman in a solo film that’s entirely unconnected to the existing DCEU. Much like the forthcoming Joker, which sees Joaquin Phoenix star in a King of Comedy-esque, stylized take on the villain’s backstory, The Batman is intended as a standalone project that will offer its own spin on the character. Its director, Matt Reeves, has described the film as a “point of view-driven, noir Batman tale” that will focus on the character’s history in the comics as “the world’s greatest detective”. The unconvinced need only to watch Pattinson’s latest film, Denis’s High Life, to see him play introspective and taciturn. Plus, there’s no doubting that he has the chin for the job.

As much as I want to treat this report with as much personal thoughts and reactions, I won't but I'll not in any way excuse such commentary on an issue as huge as rape.

Rape is RAPE no matter who becomes the victim. Whatever do you mean by a normal girl who gets raped have her dignity to lose but a commercial sex worker has no dignity to lose when raped?

Wikipedia has defined rape as a type of sexual assault usually involving sexual intercourse or other forms of sexual penetration carried out against a person without that person's consent. The act may be carried out by physical force, coercion, abuse of authority, or against a person who is incapable of giving valid consent, such as one who is unconscious, incapacitated, has an intellectual disability or is below the legal age of consent.

Popular Nigerian comic act, Okon Lagos seems to not agree in a video he had uploaded on his Instagram account.

It's not been up to a month when disturbing reports of women who were rounded up from a club in Abuja had to sleep with some of the police officers in order to be released. I am not even emphasizing on the terrible name these add to the long list of terrible names the Nigeria Police Force may already have. What bothers me is the frightening number of persons that may share alike perception as Okon Lagos who thinks that RAPE is not the right term to be used in regards to the sexual assault on these women.

Despite the high number of backlash Okon Lagos has gotten against his thoughts on the issue, he doesn't seem like he would be dropping another video saying; 'April fool came late from me this year'.

Nigerians have however labeled the alleged reports of what the commercial sex workers had to do to make bail as rape and thus demand justice adding that the women shouldn't have been arrested in the first place.

In Okon’s video, he says people shouldn’t see the case as a rape case but rather see it as theft… He says the policemen who sexually assaulted the ladies should be charged with theft and not rape… as the women weren't ripped off their dignity because they had none.

Upon seeing the video, a Nigerian lawyer lady found it ‘disgusting’ and aired her opinion.

She wrote,

This is disgusting to listen to! So because they are commercial sex workers, they are not capable of being ‘raped’. Not everything is a joke and it is not every time somethings comes to your mind that you just say it without thinking it through. You want to trend, hope you eventually do!

In his reaction to her comment, the comedian says she looks like a prostitute who has been raped....

You look every inch of one thing that is a prostitute who had been raped and maybe currently being raped as we speak, hence this your nagging grouse. Yes I said the alleged act towards the prostitutes ought to be theft not rape. Looking at it, is there no form of theft in rape? If a decent girl is raped, it is her self worth, pride and dignity that is stolen (taken without consent). Isn’t the rape action to these prostitutes still theft on the flip side? Who cursed you with dumbness?

Other Instagram and Twitter reactions:

The comedian still defends his thoughts;

It's terrible when we give a dog a bad name in order to hang it. Who justifies rape? Obviously not me. I think lots of people have problems with hearing and comprehension. Listen well again to the video I made. I never defended the animals that raped the girls. I only tried to open up another perspective to the crime they committed and that is robbery which attracts in most cases, instant death penalty by jungle justice while also condemning commercial sex hawking! Hear, Listen, Understand or shut up!!!
